Alter Ace will, as winners of the "Joker Out is Looking for the New Wave for Karneval" competition, be the first to welcome the guests of Karneval and open the evening with a performance. The (for now, still) high-school band — consisting of vocalist and guitarist Rok Martinović, guitarist Rok Filipič, drummer Nino Popovič, and bassist Jakob Keržet — is dedicated to creating authentic original music. Over the past two years, the band has released three singles: Obravan svet, Prstan, and Julija; it was the latter that won over both the general public and the expert jury, bringing the band victory in the competition. From the very beginning, the band has performed at various events and managed to appear on some of the most prestigious stages in the region, including the main stage of Kino Šiška, Novi trg in Ljubljana, and at Špilliga, Val 202, Štuk, and numerous other venues. When the members aren't on stage, they spend their time in the studio, where they rehearse and create new songs. Writing music represents free expression and an escape from everyday reality for them. What means the most to them is when listeners recognize themselves in their lyrics and sing along — and that is exactly the kind of atmosphere they intend to create on the Karneval stage.
